A technique of spraying a light application of asphalt emulsion onto a pavement surface. When used with chip seal it increases chip retention to tightly lock in aggregates and suppress dust. Fog sealing also seals very small cracks and surface voids which slows the rate of weathering.
A process of applying a coal tar emulsion over an asphalt pavement to protect from the damaging effects of the environment. Sealcoating provides a rich, black appearance to asphalt and provides a protective barrier against damage caused by gasoline, water, salt, and ultraviolet rays.
